He went away to work. He came back with storyboard sketches.

He came back with some expressions of Bud.

And the author and the white plush bunny were impressed.

And it was not enough.

She needed an artist. Someone who could take Bud to the next level and make him a real bunny.

A friend of hers knew someone who knew someone. A meeting was made and a deal was done.

At the end of June 2006, the artist delivered two concept sketches …

Thirty-one pages later, the Bud the Bunny Book prototype was complete.

And the white plush bunny was happy.

Once scanned sketches were imported into Photoshop, they were transformed, enhanced, enabled with abilities far beyond their humble beginnings and became …

Author art, which like programmer art, often isn’t like artist art at all.

She doodled and sketched and filled pieces of paper with purple-lined bunnies that would be the inspiration for the Bud the Bunny book of today and the Bud the Bunny iPad app of tomorrow.

While the original pieces of bunny-filled paper may still exist, somewhere in the Tiger House, their location is known only to the dust bunnies … and they aren’t telling.

But copies of scans of two of those pieces of bunny-filled paper exist to be shared and shown.

Behold, a glimpse into the Bunny That Would Be Bud.

Other B words followed, and flowed, and formed themselves into a list.

The B List grew and grew and grew some more. It stopped at over one thousand words – nouns, verbs, adjectives and colors for colors are special words worthy their own category on the list.

She printed the list onto sheets of paper. The sheets were cut into strips. The strips were placed across a table. The table contained all the words on the B list at the beginning, and less than twenty words from the B List by the end.

And the white plush bunny was happy, for the Bud the Bunny book had begun.

Kirean Lloyd-Quinn did not exist.

There was only a white plush bunny.

The white plush bunny was a gift, a surprise who sat waiting on the counter top for his new owner to come home from a trip. He waited patiently, his paws clasping a birthday balloon, his ear intentionally bent by the boyfriend.

When she saw the white plush bunny, she smiled big and bright. He was a wonderful gift, a spectacular surprise. She loved him very much.

As the days passed by, and as she passed by the bunny, he spoke to her.

He said his name was Bud.

He said he had a bent ear.

He said he was a birthday bunny.

He said his name was Bud, the birthday bunny with the bent ear.

She thought Bud was brilliant. She called her boyfriend, leaving an alliterative message that has since been lost to the aether, but was the beginning of Bud the Bunny the book and iPad app.
